Is First Home Hero safe or guaranteed?
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. Building your first home is an exciting and scary time. You may be wondering if you should choose us to create your dream home or do it another way. Whichever way you do it handing over a big chunk of change might make you get some nervous sweats happening… How can you be sure it’s going to work out? How do you know your builder isn’t dodgy AF? Will it end up costing way more than expected? Well, we can’t answer those questions if you go your own way, but here’s some helpful information about building your home through First Home Hero…
Okay, what do you actually do though?
We at first home hero have a mission, and it is to see every Aussie own a home. We strive to rescue renters by breaking down the barriers to first homeownership. We do that by contributing up to 100% of your deposit, when you couple our $15,000 contribution with the First Home Owners Grant and now an extra $25,000 from the HomeBuilder Scheme. That’s a hefty $55k, and a generous bite out of your mortgage. We find your block of land, build your house and guide you through the entire process, end to end.
Right, and you’re doing all of this… why?
Look, we are passionate about our mission and we would love to say it’s out of the goodness of our own hearts, but charity work doesn’t pay the bills! We provide a free service to you, and we get paid a commission by the builder. Unlike some other services though, we only work with one builder (that we 100% trust) so that we can have the exact same seamless process every time. And as for the $15k we give you, the simple answer is that we just cut out some of the pesky middlemen and pass the savings back to the customer.
Do I hear from you again once the initial payment is received?
Straight off the bat you will be assigned your First Home Hero Manager. This is usually the first person you speak to after filling out the online form. They will explain everything from getting your deposit, applying for finance, choosing house and land and will be with you throughout the entire process.
You will also be involved in every step of the planning process, from tweaking your design (if it is to your needs) to the final coat of paint. We know this is such an important time in your life, so we like to send updates of the build as often as possible. You will be able to track the progress of your home being built through the First Home Hero Portal, with photos being uploaded weekly.
Is your Builder any good?
We use a reputable builder, Gallery Homes, which has been around since 2011 (9 years). We partner with Gallery Homes because of our shared values when helping the first home buyer. Both First Home Hero and Gallery Homes work together to offer a complete ‘end to end service’ from finding the perfect location, to home design, construction approach to construction is a guarantee.
The Gallery Homes tried and tested construction process is a guarantee of exceptional quality. The process is so refined that you can even track the progress of your home being built through the First Home Hero Portal, with photos being uploaded weekly. There are also independent quality inspections throughout the building process.
Can I end up paying more than originally thought?
We offer house and land packages with everything included. Our costs are provided upfront, and the only way you will pay more is if you choose to make changes to the regular plan. One of the most important reasons we partner with Gallery is the fixed price contract. So many builders exclude things like driveways, fixtures, fittings, blinds, fencing, blinds, curtains etc – which is why some homes can seem so cheap. They attract first home buyers due to the low price points, but often end up paying more once the rest is ‘added on’. With Gallery Homes, everything is included – ready for living.
What if something happens once it’s all finished?
Our homes come with more warranties than you can poke a stick at. Firstly, each home comes with a 6.5-year Warranty dated from Handover Date. This warranty covers structural items and faults of the original workmanship. We also have warranties for external and internal bits, and even appliances. Your First Home Heor manager will explain them all in more detail.
